Broken and Decayed Teeth
If you have broken a tooth there may be a range of options depending on the extent of the damage and the reason it has broken (sometimes decay, sometimes other reasons). In the simplest scenario it may just require a polish, it may be that a simple filling or a ceramic onlay or crown is required, or left longer or in the most severe situation there may be little that can be done to save the tooth. The best option is for one of our dentists to assess the tooth for you early on and discuss what the options and prognosis for the tooth are.
Dental decay is best detected and managed early on before it becomes a cavity or it travels through to the nerve space in the tooth. Regular check-ups with your dentist and regular (2-5 yearly according to risk) x-ray films can pick up decay in the early stages. Dental decay is not always painful but in the early stages you may experience sweet sensitivity, cold sensitivity and in the later stages heat sensitivity - a worse sign. Prevention is key. Ask our Team to show you how they recommend you should brush, floss and the benefit of seeing our Hygienist.
